Position Summary:
The Infusion Registered Nurse is responsible for providing nursing services to assigned patients in accordance with the patient’s plan of care.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the clinical record for each patient receiving nursing care.
- Assures that progress reports are made to the physician for patients receiving nursing services, when the patient’s condition changes, or there are deviations from the plan of care.
- Adheres to facility’s policies and procedures, including patient care policies.
- Performs initial patient evaluations / assessments and develops a written plan of care.
- Regularly reassess the patient’s condition and nursing needs and updates the plan of care.
- Furnishes those services requiring substantial and specialized nursing skill.
- Initiates appropriate preventive nursing procedures.
- Prepares clinical and progress notes, coordinates services, informs the physician and other personnel of changes in the patient's condition and needs.
- Counsels the patient and family in meeting nursing and related needs.
- Demonstrates competency in providing patient care and provides care in accordance with professional standards and state’s nurse practice act.
- Initiates case conferences and communicates patient plan of care with team members.
- Evaluates and re-evaluates the need for services.
- Provides appropriate patient education and teaching materials.
- Participate in the Performance Improvement program as requested by the Performance Improvement Coordinator.
- Participate in committees when requested.
- Attends continuing education programs and staff meetings as appropriate to job responsibilities.
- Represents facility in a positive and professional manner.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited program and current RN license.
- At least one year of nursing experience, infusion nursing experience is preferred.
- Effective interpersonal, time management and organizational skills.
- Strong communication skills in speaking and writing.
- Organizational skills sufficient to maintain consistently accurate records.
- Ability to recognize and direct information to the appropriate health care provider.
- Computer skills that include word processing, and efficient use of the internet and e-mail.
- Current CPR card, health certificate, valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, automobile insurance.
