Job Description:
We are seeking a qualified Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) to join our team on a PRN basis in Welch, WV. The MLT will be responsible for conducting laboratory tests in various clinical areas to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. Great pay! Full-Time Shifts are available.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Graduation from a standard high school or equivalent AND one of the following:
o One year of in-service training in a Medical Laboratory Assistant Program accredited by the American Medical Association OR
o Two years of experience in a medical laboratory under the direct supervision of an MLT, Medical Technologist, or Physician OR
o An associate degree from an accredited college/university in an accredited Medical Laboratory Program (may substitute for required experience).
• West Virginia Clinical Laboratory Technician and Technologist Licensure and Certification.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Conduct medical laboratory tests in areas such as:
o Chemistry
o Hematology
o Urinalysis
o Bacteriology
o Serology
o Parasitology
o Blood Banking
• Perform minor maintenance and calibration of diagnostic equipment.
• Collect, cultivate, isolate, identify, and analyze specimens.
• Cut, stain, and mount tissue sections for microscopic analysis.
• Group, type, and crossmatch blood for donors and recipients to assure compatibility.
• Read and interpret physicians’ or supervisors’ orders to determine specific testing requirements.
• Explain test procedures to patients when applicable to ensure cooperation and reduce anxiety.
• Conduct appropriate clinical test preparation and processing procedures.
• Prepare and maintain accurate records, logs, files, and reports.
Preferred Skills and Abilities:
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise instructions.
• Excellent communication skills to explain procedures to patients and collaborate with medical staff.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced clinical environment.
• Prior experience working in a medical laboratory setting preferred.
Schedule & Compensation:
• PRN (as needed) with flexible scheduling.
• Competitive hourly rate based on experience.
