The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Packaging Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role is critical in ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of our large home panels while optimizing packaging solutions.

Responsibilities

• **Packaging Design:
  • Develop innovative, effective, and high density packaging solutions for large panels, considering factors such as product dimensions (up to 12'x22' panels), fragility, and weight constraints.
  • Utilize 3D modeling software to create detailed packaging designs for various products.
  • Design packaging with poka yoke principles and implementing foolproof mechanisms to ensure correct identification and handling of products. **

• Transportation Optimization:

  • Evaluate and select appropriate transportation modes for different products, considering cost, speed, and environmental impact.
  • Collaborate with logistics teams to optimize shipping routes and reduce transit times.
  • Partner with 3PL vendors to ensure good on-time delivery, delivered quality, while reducing costs.

• Weight Constraint Management:

  • Understand and manage weight constraints in packaging design to ensure compliance with transportation regulations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to balance product protection with weight efficiency.

• Cost Optimization:

  • Work closely with procurement teams to source cost-effective packaging materials without compromising quality or protection.
  • Implement measures to reduce packaging waste and enhance sustainability.

• Continuous Improvement:

  • Analyze feedback from transportation and logistics teams to identify opportunities for improvement in packaging designs and transportation processes.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies related to packaging and transportation.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in packaging design and transportation solutions, specifically for large panels.
• Proficient in 3D modeling software for packaging design.
• Thorough understanding of weight constraints and regulations related to transportation.
• Experience with different modes of transportation (ground, air, sea) and associated challenges.
• Strong knowledge of poka yoke principles and their application in packaging design.
