    Position Summary:

    The Packaging Operator is responsible for efficiently operating packaging machinery, ensuring that products are packaged according to specifications, and maintaining high-quality standards. This role requires attention to detail, adherence to safety procedures, and the ability to troubleshoot minor issues with packaging equipment. Scheduled hours for this 3rd shift position are 10:30 PM - 7:00 AM. The pay rate for the Packaging Operator starts at $21.50/hr.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Operate Packaging Equipment: Set up, operate, and adjust packaging machinery to package products accurately and efficiently. This may include filling, sealing, labeling, and coding machines .
    • Quality Control: Inspect products and packaging materials for defects or inconsistencies. Ensure that packaging meets company and industry standards, including correct labeling and packaging integrity.
    • Maintain Equipment: Perform routine maintenance on packaging machinery, including cleaning, lubricating, and replacing parts as needed. Report any equipment malfunctions or issues to the maintenance team.
    • Monitor Production: Track production rates and ensure that packaging processes meet production goals. Make adjustments to machinery settings to optimize performance and minimize downtime.
    • Safety Compliance: Follow all safety procedures and protocols to maintain a safe working environment. Report any safety hazards or incidents to the supervisor immediately.
    • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of packaging operations, including quantities packaged, materials used, and any issues encountered. Complete required documentation and reports.
    • Team Collaboration: Work closely with other team members and departments to ensure smooth production flow. Communicate any concerns or feedback to improve packaging processes.
    • Documented Inspections: Complete and maintain accurate records of documented inspections, ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards.
    • Inventory Management: Assist with inventory control by monitoring and reporting on the usage of packaging materials. Ensure that materials are stored properly and replenished as needed.
    • Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve minor technical issues with packaging machinery. Escalate more complex issues to the maintenance team or supervisor.
    • Other Duties: Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor or production manager to support the team and ensure efficient operations.

    Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

    • Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
    • Ability to read and understand technical manuals and operating procedures.
    • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
    • Good communication and teamwork skills.

    Education & Experience:

    • High school diploma or equivalent. Additional technical training or certification in packaging machinery is a plus.
    • Previous experience in a packaging or production role

    Work Environment:

    Production facility setting.

    • Must wear required PPE while in all manufacturing areas.
    • Moving parts and machinery are present in the plant.

    Physical Demands:

    • Ability to stand for extended periods.
    • Occasional ability to lift up to 50lbs.
    • Ability to physically perform functions of repetitive motion, grasping, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, crouching, kneeling, stooping, balancing, and climbing.
    • Noise levels will vary, higher noise levels exist while in the plant operations areas.
