SUMMARY
The Packaging Line Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the packaging equipment, as well as the cleanliness and organization of the areas of the production floor that packaging occupies. Successful Packaging Line Operators work with a team to transfer finished beer into cans, bottles, and/or kegs, while adhering to quality procedures to ensure product is “Right the First Time". Packaging Line Operators maximize barrels per labor hours, minimize re-work costs, eliminate production scheduling delays, and deliver the highest possible quality product to internal and external customers. Hours will typically be 7am-3:30pm approximately, but overtime may be required.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist in the operation of packaging equipment, including bottling, canning, and keg line production, and product packaging
Assist in shipping and receiving duties as necessary
Clean and organize packaging areas
Perform CIP (clean in place) procedures on the bottling line, keg line, and can line
Adhere to safety standards, SOPs and company policies, including lockout tagout when machines are serviced
Adhere to Personal Protective Equipment requirements
Perform setup, changeover, and shutdown of equipment
Assure equipment is well maintained, functioning properly and perform operator-level maintenance on equipment
Perform periodic visual checks to assure the quality of the finished product in accordance with the quality checklist
Correct any nonconforming packaging issues and notify the packaging lead or manager of the issue
Assist in the repacking of product
Communicate with the packaging lead or manager if the proper materials are not available or need to be reordered, so production is not interrupted
Communicate with the packaging lead or manager when there are maintenance or safety issues beyond an operators skill level
Perform other related duties as assigned

Attention to detail
Ability to obtain and maintain a forklift driver certificate (will train)
Ability to work with cleaning chemicals, including caustic, acid and other hazardous materials
Ability to continuously lift 20 lbs., and 40 lbs as needed
Ability to perform changeovers on bottling line (will train)
Must be able to work a flexible schedule when necessary
Ability to be present and ready to perform job duties by the scheduled start time – without the full team assembled, work cannot begin and many are left waiting for a few
