    Job Description/Duties/Responsibilities:

    Job Summary

    The senior paint technician is responsible for preparing 3D printed, Cast Urethane, CNC machined, or

    other manufactured parts for paint. Technician must be knowledgeable in all aspects of trimming and

    finishing techniques, preparing parts for paint, mixing and application of various types of coatings.

    Attention to detail and commitment to success are required.

    ? Primary Job Functions

    ? Communicate with team members to understand customer requirements and expectations

    ? Read and understand work orders, drawings, and other documentation prior to finish and paint

    ? Use measuring tools to layout and mask parts per prints

    ? Mix paint colors per samples provided or by pantone number using in-house color matching

    system

    ? Apply decals per prints

     

    ? Fill holes or gaps with appropriate patching materials to prepare part for prime

    ? Understand and preserve part geometry throughout finish process

    ? Buff and Polish parts as needed to achieve desired finish

    ? Recognize and communicate any issues within the process (warped parts, contamination, etc.)

    ? Prime, paint, and clear coat parts using lacquers, primers, synthetic enamels, polyurethane,

    and epoxy using proper techniques and HVLP equipment

    ? Colormatch, blend and touch up parts as needed

    ? Dissemble, clean, and maintain paint guns and related equipment

    ? Work closely with sales, project managers, and customers to achieve specialty finishes

    ? Assist teammates with other tasks to ensure project is on-time and meets or exceeds customer

    expectations

    ? Work with Lead to ensure proper tools and supplies are available at all times

    ? Maintain a clean and well-organized work area at all times

    ? Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a positive manner with

    co-workers, customers, and management

    ? Follow operational procedures at all times

    ? Adhere to 3D safety policies and procedures at all times

     

    Minimum Skills/Mandatory Skills/Experience Needed for Hire:

    Experience

    ? Minimum 5 years of finish, masking, and paint experience using HVLP equipment.

    ? Experience using paint matching systems

    ? Experience with automotive and industrial paints

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

    ? Ability to understand verbal instructions.

    ? Experience with HVLP spray equipment and basic hand held power tools required

    ? Mix and match paints using color match systems

    ? 3D CAD experience

    ? Proficient Computer skills

    ? Ability to read and interpret prints

    ? Moderate physical activity required; handling objects over 50 pounds occasionally and over 30

    pounds frequently

    ? Ability to take direction and constructive feedback; has a desire to learn and grow

     

    ? Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

    ? Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail

    ? Ability to safely use cleaning equipment and supplies.

    ? Ability to read, understand, and follow safety procedures.

    ? Ability to understand written and verbal communications.

     

    Education and Training

    High school diploma or GED

    Working Environment / Physical Demands

    • The duties require that an employee wear a mask, fresh air breathing apparatus or other safety

    equipment as needed, when working with paint products emitting hazardous vapors.

    • This position requires the ability to stand, stoop, and bend for a minimum of 8 hours per day.

    • This position requires the manual dexterity sufficient to operate common paint and finishing

    tools.

    • Must speak clearly using the English language to accurately convey information and be able to

    hear at normal speaking levels.

    • Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require

    following basic safety precautions.

    • Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements such as extreme temperatures,

    dust, fumes, and unpleasant odors.

    • Must be able to visually read the work instructions, gages, and monitors required to complete

    daily tasks.

    • Regularly required to lift up to 25 pounds, frequently required to lift up to 50 pounds and

    occasionally required to lift up to 100 pounds.

    Saftey Requirements

    • Required to observe all safety standards and rules.

    • Required to report all injuries to his/her supervisor and Human Resources within 24 hours.

    • Personal protection equipment must be worn as required by the job.
