Our client is seeking an experienced Paralegal that will directly support the General Counsel and legal department. They will assist the legal department with scheduling legal calls, filing legal documents in the company's Sharepoint system, tracking litigation, managing investor relations and board communications with in-house counsel, compiling and distributing board materials, responding to document production requests, and drafting internal and external communications.
Location: In person role in San Diego, CA
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepares legal documents such as briefs, pleadings, appeals, contracts, initial & amended articles of incorporation, stock certificates, and other securities, buy-sell agreements, closing papers and binders, deeds, and trust instruments for review, approval, and use by the company general counsel.
- Assists with coordinating meetings with board, committee, and executive teams, including preparing agendas and taking meeting minutes, if needed.
- Assists with litigation communications with outside counsel, assisting with document production requests.
- Assists with legal tracking, litigation, open demands, settlements, list of outside counsel, and other requests as needed.
- Performs other clerical duties such as scheduling appointments, providing information to callers, taking dictations, composing and typing routine correspondence, and reading and routing incoming mail
- Assists with corporate and legal filing in Sharepoint.
- Tracks and sends monthly confirmations for payment plans related to the legal department.
- Sends and tracks documents and agreements for signature.
- Drafts letters and communication for the legal and executive teams.
- Executes ad hoc projects as assigned by direct supervisor.
- Outstanding lawyer/client relations skills
- Ability to convey complex legal information clearly and concisely, both in writing and in person, ensuring effective collaboration with attorneys, clients and court officials.
- Advanced understanding of legal frameworks, litigation process, case management, and compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, supporting seamless case preparation and execution.
- Skilled in using various legal and office software, including case management systems, research databases, and document management tools, to streamline workflow and enhance productivity.
- Mastery of Word, PowerPoint, and particularly Excel, with advanced skills such as data analysis
- Adept at managing multiple cases and priorities simultaneously while maintaining focus and precision, ensuring deadlines are met and legal teams stay organized.
- Strong commitment to producing error-free documentation, reviewing legal files, and cross-checking data to minimize risk and ensure legal compliance.
- Thorough understanding of the intricacies of legal language, court filing processes, and procedural requirements, ensuring that all paperwork is properly prepared, filed, and organized for meetings.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree (B.A.) or two to four years of related experience and training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must be 21 years old and pass a criminal background check per the City of Oakland
- Additional legal research certifications and coursework
- Paralegal Certification
Compensation: $70,000-90,000 base salary
