Paralegal – Eviction Defense Program

Riverside Legal Aid, a nonprofit law firm, is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable full-time Paralegal to join our Eviction Defense Program in our Riverside office. This program focuses on providing legal assistance to tenants facing eviction, helping prevent homelessness and displacement for vulnerable populations in Riverside County. Riverside Legal Aid provides free legal services to indigent clients using both paid and volunteer attorneys. This position includes full benefits.

Paralegal Job Responsibilities:

Provide legal support for the Eviction Defense Program at our Riverside office.

Conduct client intakes, answer phones, and assist with client inquiries. Assist attorneys in preparing eviction defense cases, including legal research, drafting pleadings, and managing case files.

Prepare legal documents, correspondence, and court filings related to unlawful detainers.

Assist with case management and coordination of services for clients.

Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards.

Compensation & Benefits:

Hourly wage of $28.00.

Health insurance fully covered after a two-week introductory period.

Four work-weeks of paid vacation accrued annually, sick time, and a 3% matching 401(k) provided.

Work schedule: Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM (Riverside office).

Education & Experience:

High school diploma required.

Spanish-speaking candidates required.

Paralegal certificate from an ABA-accredited program preferred, or a combination of education and relevant experience.

2-3 years of litigation experience as a paralegal/legal assistant in a law firm setting.

Experience in landlord-tenant law, eviction defense, or housing-related legal services preferred.

Familiarity with Outlook, Legal Server, and Lawyaw software is a plus.
