  • Responsibilities

    We are seeking an experienced Patent Litigation Paralegal to assist in all aspects of the patent litigation process, from the initial complaint to discovery, trial, and appeal. This role involves working with both U.S. Federal District Court litigation and USPTO Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) proceedings, including Inter Partes Review (IPR) proceedings. The successful candidate will also support the patent prosecution team with patent due diligence searches and reviews.

    Compensation:

    • $60,000 – $100,000, based on qualifications and experience.

    Work Expectations & Schedule:

    • This position requires regular physical presence in the office at least 3x per week, or more, depending on business needs or firm policy.

     

    Candidate Parameters:

    • Bachelor’s Degree required.
    • 5+ years of law firm experience in patent litigation and USPTO PTAB proceedings.
    • Experience with MyUSPTO, Patent Trial and Appeal Case Tracking System (P-TACTS), and patent docketing systems (FoundationIP experience is a plus).
    • Strong written and organizational skills.
    • Familiarity with litigation databases (Relativity is a plus).
    • Experience working with Derwent and TotalPatent One is a plus.
    • Ability to proactively identify and solve problems.
    • Ability to thrive under pressure in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
    • Available for overtime when required, including evenings and weekends.
    • Strong technical skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and the ability to quickly learn new software and applications.

     

    Responsibilities:

    • Assist attorneys with all phases of litigation, including motion practice, discovery, trial, and post-trial in U.S. Federal District Courts and USPTO PTAB proceedings.
    • Draft and format legal documents, including subpoenas, deposition notices, interrogatories, responses, affidavits, agreements, and more.
    • Coordinate e-filing and service processes for federal/state court, USPTO PTAB, and judicial panels.
    • Docket PTAB proceedings using the firm’s patent docketing software.
    • Compile, organize, and review responsive production documents.
    • Perform cite-checking, Shepardizing, Bluebooking, and proofreading court filings and related papers.
    • Conduct statistical and factual research and compile data for analysis.
    • Perform patent searches for due diligence requests.
    • Assist in pre-trial activities, including witness binders, trial exhibit organization, and coordinating witness attendance and trial logistics.
    • Attend trials and hearings, assisting with exhibits, demonstratives, and tracking evidence.
    • Coordinate preparation of invoices for lender matters.
    • Monitor dockets and coordinate service of filings.
    • Prepare e-binders, coordinate printing, and ensure delivery of physical binders.
    • Perform basic document handling for the Corporate department.
    • Liaise with clients and vendors.
