    Harding Mazzotti, LLP in Rochester, NY, US, is seeking a dedicated Pre-Litigation Paralegal to join our team. As a Paralegal in our Pre-Litigation department, you will play a crucial role in assisting our attorneys, case coordinators, and other paralegals to assist individuals with personal injuries file and pursue claims. Responsibilities: This office works on cases for our New York, Massachusetts, and Vermont offices. • Data entry into the firm’s electronic database and storage system • Organize and maintain electronic database, storage system, and physical files • Assist attorneys and case coordinators with day-to-day handling of files and caseloads • Communicate with clients by phone and email • Communicate basic information with insurance adjusters via phone, email, and fax • Draft and send correspondence to clients and insurance adjusters • Receive and process mail, scan into the electronic storage database, and disburse as needed • Communicate with medical providers to collect and update medical records and billing • Communicate with local authorities and governmental agencies to send FOIL requests for reports and supporting documentation. (i.e.: police reports, police photos, reconstruction reports, inspection reports, etc.) • Assist attorneys and/or case coordinators with contacting and updating information from various health insurance carriers (including Medicare and Medicaid) in regard to potential liens/subrogation • Assist attorneys and/or case coordinators by contacting and updating information in regard to any other potential liens/ rights to subrogation (i.e., workers' compensation, child support, additional personal injury protection, outstanding medical bills, etc.) • Draft basic legal documents for attorney review, file with various county clerks and/or serve accordingly (i.e., infant settlement petition, wrongful death petition, notice of claim, notice of intent) • Draft closing documentation upon settlement, working in partnership with the accounting office to ensure that funds are distributed properly • Other duties as assigned Qualifications: Required Education and Qualifications • Strong knowledge of PC applications, Windows, Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) • Prior experience working in an office environment • Prior customer service experience • Excellent written and verbal communication skills Preferred Experience • Prior Paralegal experience • Paralegal certification or degree Physical Demands/Requirements: • While performing the duties of this job, the employee constantly operates a computer and other office productivity equipment, such as a calculator, copy machine, and printer • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time • The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office equipment, etc. • Occasionally ascends/descends stairs • The person in this position frequently communicates with coworkers, clients, and/or outside vendors. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
