A dynamic Oakland, CA law firm specializing in estate planning, probate, and trust administration seeks an experienced Trusts and Estates Paralegal to join its growing team. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex, high-value cases while collaborating closely with attorneys and clients to deliver tailored legal solutions. Key Responsibilities
Estate Planning & Probate Administration:
- Assist attorneys in drafting trusts, wills, powers of attorney, and related estate planning documents.
- Prepare probate filings, including petitions, inventories, and court submissions.
- Manage asset transfers, creditor claims, and estate tax returns (federal and state).
Trust Administration:
- Track trust distributions, prepare accountings, and ensure compliance with fiduciary obligations.
- Coordinate with financial institutions, beneficiaries, and government agencies.
Client Communication:
- Liaise with clients to gather financial/legal information and explain legal processes.
- Draft correspondence and maintain detailed records of client interactions.
Legal Research & Compliance:
- Conduct research on estate tax laws, probate procedures, and trust administration requirements.
- Stay current on state and federal regulations impacting trusts and estates.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 3+ years in trusts, estates, or probate, preferably in a law firm setting.
- Education: Paralegal certification from an ABA-approved program is strongly preferred.
Skills:
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and document management systems.
- Strong organizational abilities to prioritize tasks in a time-sensitive environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail.
