We’re hiring a paralegal to assist our legal team in preparing legal documents, filing motions, coordinating law office activity, and conducting legal research. Responsibilities: • Draft legal documents, pleadings, and correspondence such as interrogatories, subpoenas, deposition notices, complaints, pretrial orders, legal briefs, and affidavits under the guidance of a lawyer • Gather information about legal issues from the client in interviews • Draft subpoenas and coordinate with process servers • Work with lawyers to prepare for trial by conducting research on legal articles, preparing and organizing exhibits, organizing and coordinating witnesses, filing motions, and assisting with client meetings • Perform administrative duties such as answering phone calls and keeping our case filing system organized so all documents are readily accessible If you have the experience we require, you already know what this job entails, but here are just some of the basic tasks you will do day to day: • Drafting of probate or administration proceeding papers, collection and valuation of assets, maintaining estate asset lists with date of death values, payment of debts, and bequests • Corresponding with clients - heavy client contact, both verbal and written • Monitoring of deadlines of key dates and events for each matter assigned • Maintaining estate administration files and a complete set of correspondence, memos, and administrative documents using practice management software • Assisting with the preparation of any documentation necessary for transferring assets Qualifications: • 3 years of experience in legal services under an attorney or lawyer in a law firm setting • Candidates who have completed a paralegal professional certification or have advanced paralegal education will receive preference • Candidates must have completed an ABA-approved paralegal certificate program such as an Associate’s degree or proprietary school program in paralegal studies, Bachelor’s degree preferred • Must have great time-management skills, and organizational skills • Strong oral and written communication skills You must have the years of experience that it takes for YOU: • To have mastered the day-to-day tasks that this role requires, including drafting and researching • To have the JUDGMENT to make smart decisions about how to move a case through the system • To already have the technical skills to do so without an attorney having to rewrite your entire work product Compensation: $65,000 - $75,000 yearly
