POSITION SUMMARY
The Blow Molding Mechanic Level 1 (Machine Operator) goes through our on-the-job training program to learn how to setup, run, and fix our blow molding and auxiliary equipment. You are a critical team member, working side by side with other mechanics and maintenance personnel to problem solve and help us produce high quality products as efficiently as possible. PRIMARY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operate, start, and stop all production blow molding and auxiliary equipment in a safe manner.
Perform daily walk downs to ensure machines are running at required efficiency and production levels. Make mechanical adjustments as required.
Troubleshoot processing and production issues on all equipment and suggest and implement ways to improve production.
Assist with machine changeovers, including all downstream equipment.
Work closely with management on items and equipment that need to be purchased or repaired and log them in our maintenance software system.
Work closely with maintenance to ensure equipment is at industry standard.
With direct supervision of Quality Control personnel, help perform quality checks with the known bottle specifications while completing the proper documentation to support findings.
Maintain proper paperwork, logs, and records either manually or in computer systems/mobile applications.
Be a team player by assisting coworkers where needed and performing other duties, as assigned.
SKILLS / EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or GED, further education a plus
Mechanical aptitude
Strong interest in learning and figuring out how things work
Proficiency in hand tools
Communication – Escalate progress and concerns in a professional manner
Follow processes and procedures to maintain a safe workplace
Attention to detail
Ability to retain information and follow direction to perform independently after training
Must understand or be willing to learn basic mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical skills
Must have comprehensive mechanical tools to complete required machine tasks (tool purchase repayment plan offered through Parker Plastics)
General computer knowledge to enter, track, and submit work orders utilizing computer programs and mobile applications
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS:
Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 25 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Must be able to lift 75-100 pounds occasionally.
Exposure to loud noises in our production facility.
