Position Summary:
The primary focus of this position will be to teach Snapology programs. Instructors are asked to promote creativity, teamwork and problem solving skills while educating students on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) concepts. Programs are conducted for children ages 3-14, although not all instructors are required to teach all age groups. This role requires internal collaboration and communication with Snapology leadership as well as representing the Snapology organization to parents & children with a high degree of professionalism. Role & Responsibilities:
Lead groups of up to 16 students through curriculum-guided activities;
Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment (some instruction may be done virtually);
Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures;
Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of Snapology;
Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching strategies;
Adequately prepare for each program by reading curriculum, watching training videos and/or participating in face-to-face training sessions;
Handle inquiries from parents regarding Snapology programs;
Encourage students & parents to enroll students in future Snapology programs;
Check-in with Owner/Program Director as needed.
Qualifications:
Criminal and Child Clearances must be current (we can help you with these!)
2 or more years of experience working with children in a classroom, camp, or similar environment
Education degree or teaching experience recommended, teachers pursuing a degree in education will also be considered for this position
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
Proven ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis
Part-Time Programs Available to Teach: Depending on your availability and our enrollment, we can have 4-16 hours of work per week available for you! We can work around your schedule, and new opportunities are always coming available, but here are some opportunities for which we currently need to hire.
After-School Classes: We currently have a need to fill programs in North Chelmsford and surrounding areas, from Pepperell to Fitchburg.
Generally on-site for 2-3 hours per afternoon, generally either 3-5:30PM or 4-6:30PM ($100 per afternoon)
Note that we will also have summer camps, Feb/Apr vacation programs, and more available in the area!
Generally, you are on site from 8:30AM-4:00PM (with some flexibility for before and after care, as needed). These are paid out at $100 for a half-day or $200 for a full-day of employment.
Please note that while our offices are based in North Chelmsford, you will be asked to teach in off-site programs in surrounding towns throughout the school year and during school vacation weeks! All effort will be made to keep you within a short drive from home!
