YWCA Cass Clay is seeking a part-time children's services teacher to assist in providing quality childcare for children of YWCA Emergency Shelter and Supportive Housing participants.
Job Duties:
• Implement quality childcare and plan developmentally appropriate activities for the children residing at the shelter, and participants of the Transitional housing program.
• Treat all children with dignity and respect and allow for individual differences, and provide an atmosphere of acceptance and caring for each child.
• Assist with the implementation of licensing standards with childcare programs.
• Implement and ensure licensing standards are fulfilled within the program. This includes enforcing staff ratios, practicing proper sanitation procedures, and requiring documentation.
• Assist with the administration of the USDA Food Program, which includes menu planning, meal preparation, safety, practicing proper sanitation guidelines, and documentation.
• Advocate and advise YWCA staff through written and oral communication as to the needs and concerns of the children and families enrolled in programming.
• Sort and organize all childcare donations daily, as well as distribute and document supplies given to families.
• Assist with training and coordinating volunteers assigned to the Children's Services Program.
• Attend staff meetings as necessary.
• Ensure records are maintained.
• Work with Shelter Children's Services team members to address daily department needs.
• Observe confidentiality of children, parents, and program.
Other Duties:
• Act as a mandated reporter in the incidence of child abuse or neglect.
• Provide proof of required annual training hours.
• Provide current certification in CPR and first aid.
• Prompt and reliable attendance is required.
• Cross-train and support all areas of Emergency Shelter.
• Other duties as assigned. **
Qualifications:**
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proven ability to communicate orally and in writing.
• Meets all background check requirements.
• Provide a valid driver's license and proof of insurance with an insurable driving record.

Requirements:**
These physical demands are representative of the physical requirements necessary for an employee to successfully perform the essential job functions of this position. While performing the responsibilities for this position, the employee is required to sit, stand, walk, climb stairs, bend, push, carry and drive occasionally. The employee will also be required to twist at waist, squat, kneel, stoop, crouch and reach overhead occasionally. Standing in place and sitting at desk for prolonged periods of time are performed occasionally. Repetitive keying, data entry, wrist motion, and reaching above shoulders are performed frequently. Lifting up to 10 lbs. from shoulder to overhead is occasional, carrying and pulling up to 40 lbs. is performed frequently and pushing up to 10 lbs. is performed frequently.
