Weekend Morning Cook
Scattergood Friends School seeks a cook to prepare meals on Saturday and Sunday mornings. This position will be for 8 am-12 pm, preparing a 10:30 Brunch on Saturdays and a lunch for Noon on Sundays.
Scattergood Friends School is a boarding/day school for 6th-12 grade students. We pride ourselves on using fresh, high-quality ingredients fresh from the school's farm to create innovative dishes that reflect our commitment to family-style meals. We are seeking a skilled and passionate Cook to join our talented kitchen team.
As a Weekend Cook at Scattergood, you will be responsible for preparing a variety of dishes following our menu standards and ensuring that all food is prepared efficiently, safely, and to the highest quality standards. You will work closely with the kitchen team to support daily operations and contribute to a positive work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook menu items according to recipes and presentation standards.
- Ensure that all meals are prepared and served in a timely manner.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, cooking equipment, and kitchen areas.
- Follow food safety and sanitation guidelines to ensure a safe dining experience for guests.
- Assist in menu planning and recipe development as needed.
- Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering supplies as necessary.
- Collaborate with fellow kitchen staff to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
- Participate in kitchen meetings to discuss menu changes, special events, and other relevant information.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Kitchen Manager.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Cook in a restaurant or similar setting.
- Strong knowledge of cooking techniques, methods, and safety practices.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and manage time effectively.
- Excellent culinary skills with attention to detail and presentation.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift heavy items (up to 50 pounds).
- Manual dexterity to operate kitchen equipment and utensils safely.
