  • Responsibilities

    YWCA is currently recruiting for a Part Time Receptionist to work Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 12:00pm. The Receptionist will deliver outstanding customer service both over the phone and in person, creating a warm and welcoming environment for YWCA staff, participants, volunteers, and community members.

    Job Duties:

    • Greet and welcome visitors, both in-person and via telephone, and direct them accordingly.
    • Answer, screen, and forward incoming calls professionally and efficiently.
    • Support team members with various projects, meetings, or special events as needed.
    • Assist team members with projects, meetings, or special events as directed.
    • Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked reception and supply area.
    • Orders supplies as requested to ensure organization needs are met.
    • Operate and maintain multi-line phone system and keep the directory up to date.
    • Receive, sort, and distribute incoming mail and packages.
    • Uphold a high standard of professionalism and ensure the confidentiality of all program participants.
    • Ensure shelter security by properly responding to phone, door buzzers, locks, security systems, fire alarm system,s and completing security checklists.
    • Assist with receiving and organizing donations as necessary.
    • Compile and provide statistical information as requested.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications include:

    • Minimum of high school diploma, with an additional two years of experience.
    • Experience with the multi-line phone systems and office equipment.
    • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft
    • Must have excellent oral, written, and verbal communication skills.
    • Must pass a background check.
    • Knowledge or understanding of mental health issues, domestic violence, and homelessness is beneficial but not required.
    • Must be comfortable and confident in handling crisis situations.
    • An understanding of, appreciation for, and support of the mission of the YWCA Cass Clay, which is eliminating racism and empowering women.

    Requirements:

    These physical demands are representative of the physical requirements necessary for an employee to successfully perform the essential job functions of this position. While performing the responsibilities for this position, the employee is required to sit, stand, walk, twist at waist, bend, push, carry and squat continually. This employee is also required to kneel frequently and climb stairs, climb, stoop, crouch, reach overhead and drive occasionally. Standing in place is performed frequently and sitting at desk is performed continually. Repetitive keying, data entry and wrist motion is continual and repetitive reaching above shoulders is occasional. This employee will be required to lift up to 40 lbs. from shoulder to overhead occasionally, carry, push and pull up to 40 lbs. continually.
