Part-time Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant
Summary: Provide and direct occupational therapy treatment to help clients develop, recover, or maintain their daily living and work skills. Focus on adapting to the environment, modifying a task, teaching a skill, and educating the client and family to help the client increase participation in and performance in daily activities. 15- 20 hours per week
Responsibilities: ⬧ Conduct screenings and contribute to the evaluation of clients, as appropriate, to determine the need for intervention/treatment. ⬧ Implements treatment plan developed by supervising occupational therapist; implements, conducts, and monitors client’s response to treatment. ⬧ Communicate an appropriate home or community program with the client, family, and team members to maintain or enhance the client’s performance. ⬧ Provide/recommend/fabricate adaptive devices or other equipment; train client, family, and appropriate staff in using or applying orthotics and prosthetics. ⬧ Adapt treatment and programs to meet the individual needs of the client. Document results of the client’s assessment, treatment, follow-up, and termination of services. ⬧ Report all findings of the client’s treatment, follow-up, and termination of services to the Occupational Therapist. ⬧ Comply with all infection control, universal precautions, and OSHA standards for healthcare professionals. Maintains a safe and clean work area. ⬧ Comply with Easter Seals policies and procedures utilizing the highest personal and professional ethics and behavior standards. ⬧ Demonstrate good judgment, diplomacy, courtesy, and effective communication while working at Easter Seals or representing the organization.
Qualifications: ⬧ Education: Associate Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program. Successful completion of the NBCOT Examination for Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants. ⬧ Experience: At least two years' experience as an Occupational Therapy Assistant. Working knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Experience working with children and adults with Autism preferred.
Required Credentials: Current Florida Department of Health License (or license eligible). NBCOT registered, and National Provider Identification number preferred. CPR Certifications/First Aid/Bloodborne Pathogens/HIV/AIDS/Medical errors, mandator (training available). Valid Florida Class D driver's license and auto liability insurance.
