We are seeking a skilled Histotechnologist to join our dynamic pathology team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing and processing tissue samples for microscopic examination. This role requires a keen attention to detail, strong technical skills, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of laboratory safety and quality.**
Core Dermatology is a state of the art, private dermatology practice serving Denver and the surrounding community. We are seeking an experienced Histotechnologist to join our lab team.
The candidate should have excellent attention to detail, be open to learning, and interested in a rewarding career in helping patients with skin cancer. The candidate will work alongside our fellowship-trained Mohs surgeon in a brand new and spacious laboratory. This position is one day per week and can serve as an excellent supplement to income.
As an essential member of our lab department, the candidate should have a high degree of integrity, attention to detail and reliability. They should seek to create excellent lab specimens and develop a strong working partnership with the surgeon. They should be able to identify problems, propose solutions, and work well in a team environment.
Job responsibilities will include:
-Assign accession numbers to surgical cases.
-Confirm orientation of tissue specimens.
-Gross and ink specimens according to instructions given by Mohs Surgeon.
-Process specimens with special care appropriate for the specimen type and size.
-Embed specimens correctly and carefully for frozen sections.
-Operate a cryostat.
-Meticulously cut tissue blocks.
-Careful placement of specimens on slides.
-Perform staining of slides, including Hematoxylin and Eosin (H&E), either by hand or automation.
-Prepare and maintain solutions and reagents for staining procedures.
-Position cover-slip on slides by hand.
-Label slides correctly.
-Obtain additional sections as needed at the request of the Mohs Surgeon.
-File slides for storage upon case completion.
-Follow and maintain all CLIA, local, and federal guidelines, safety requirements, OSHA/standard precautions and adhere to HIPAA Regulations.
