    Mercaz - Jewish Philly Teens

    Part-Time Advisor(s) - 4-10 hours a week

    Looking for one or two advisors to work 4-10 hours/week.

    (Possible opportunity to hire one exceptional candidate for all 10 hours.)

    Mission Statement

    Mercaz - Jewish Philly Teens Supported by the Weinberg Foundation Grant from the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia

    This new and exciting Teen initiative will engage Jewish teens in Center City - regardless of institutional affiliation - as they gather and become a robust Jewish teen community and ultimately become effective Jewish leaders through:

    Social Activism and Mitzvah Projects

    Leadership Training

    Jewish Educational Opportunities

    Engaging Speakers

    Field Trips and Travel Opportunities

    Programs will most likely take place on Wednesday evenings and Sunday mornings/afternoons. Your work schedule can be amended to fit your personal schedule.

    The Ideal Candidate…

    Is passionate about assisting teens in creating and implementing programs that will cultivate strong Jewish leaders

    Has enthusiasm for making the world a better place by participating in social causes that align with Jewish tradition and values

    Has led programs with teens and can relate to them and build relationships with them

    Is excited to work with, teach, and learn from teens

    Has formal or informal Jewish education experience or experience working with teens in other experiential education settings (i.e. summer camps, youth groups, after school programs, scouts, etc.)

    Main Responsibilities Include (all with the help of the Mercaz founder):

    Preparing lessons on compelling topics for teens and enthusiastically teaching the content 2-4 hours per week

    Assisting in the planning and executing of monthly service projects

    Supporting the teens and helping to build a strong Jewish teen community in Philly

    Assisting with training peer leaders and being a role model
