Our business has grown exponentially, and we are excited to add an experienced and highly skilled Pastry Sous Chef to our team.
Essential duties and tasks:
Work closely with the Executive Pastry Chef to prepare creative and delicious desserts, contributing ideas to enhance the pastry menu and elevate client satisfaction.
Actively participate in the production kitchen to prepare high-quality food for tastings and special occasion events, ensuring consistent excellence in all pastry items.
Demonstrate and maintain a culture of food and workplace safety, strictly adhering to state sanitation/health regulations and company standards.
Maintain complete knowledge of the correct use and upkeep of kitchen equipment and tools. Use equipment only as intended, safely and properly.
Meet with Production leadership to review daily assignments, production sheets, any changes, and relevant information for job performance.
Regularly inspect the cleanliness and working condition of all kitchen tools, equipment, and supplies, ensuring all items are in top shape for use.
Check the daily production schedule and par levels, establishing priority items to ensure efficient kitchen operations.
Prepare all menu items in alignment with recipes and yield guides, ensuring consistency and quality according to departmental standards.
Take charge of managing the pastry station in the absence of the Executive Pastry Chef, ensuring that high standards are maintained throughout service.
Perform other duties as assigned to support overall kitchen operations and the success of the team.
Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent; certification of culinary training or apprenticeship preferred.
1-2 years of experience in a pastry or bakery setting, demonstrating strong pastry skills and familiarity with bakery operations.
Proficiency in English or Spanish preferred. (Knowledge of Spanish is an asset but not required.)
Maintains high standards in recipe adherence, portion control, inventory management, waste reduction, and food and labor cost efficiency.
Works efficiently under pressure with a calm, focused demeanor, meeting strict deadlines with professionalism.
Displays a solution-oriented mindset, easily adapting to challenges and overcoming obstacles with resourcefulness.
Successful completion of a background check and E-Verify confirmation of work authorization are required for employment.
Pay: The pay range for the Pastry Sous Chef position ranges from $25 to $34 per hour, commensurate with experience.
