We are seeking a highly motivated individual with substantive industry experience, at least one year of law firm experience, and a degree in material, chemical, mechanical, biomedical engineering, or a related field to join our busy patent counseling and prosecution practice in Boston, MA. The ideal candidate will possess broad scientific knowledge across various disciplines, particularly in chemical engineering or material science, and demonstrate strong technical, written, and verbal communication skills. This position will focus on patentability and freedom to operate analyses, drafting patent applications, assisting with patent prosecution, counseling, and litigation, and analyzing patent and scientific papers.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct prior art database searches for patentability and freedom to operate analyses.
- Assist patent attorneys in patent prosecution, counseling, and litigation.
- Draft patent applications and responses to office actions.
- Analyze patent and scientific papers/documents to support patent strategies.
Qualifications:
- At least one year of law firm experience in patent prosecution or counseling.
- Degree in material, chemical, mechanical, biomedical engineering, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge in mechanical or biomedical engineering, with an advanced degree a plus.
- Must be a registered US patent agent or eligible to sit for the USPTO registration exam.
- Superb technical, written, and verbal communication skills in English.
- Initiative, fast learner, and ability to work well with others.
