PATHWAYS VIRTUAL ACADEMY (PVA) is seeking highly qualified VIRTUAL K-8 ELECTIVE TEACHERS for the upcoming 2023-2024 SCHOOL YEAR! PVA is a flexible, affordable online private school for Grades K-8. At PVA, we enable students to thrive by empowering them to learn in ways that are best for them—at home, at their proper level, and on their own time.

We are seeking teachers who are excited to create a fun yet rigorous virtual classroom environment that prioritizes student learning and social-emotional development. PATHWAYS VIRTUAL ACADEMY uses a virtual curriculum which can be accessed online 24/7. We focus on academics (core and enrichment), as well as social-emotional learning.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR THE FOLLOWING ELECTIVE TEACHERS: PE, ART, MUSIC, TECHNOLOGY, AND CAREERS/CTE

*BECAUSE WE ARE HEADQUARTERED IN TEXAS, WE TEACH TO TEXAS EDUCATIONAL STANDARDS. HOWEVER, STUDENTS AND TEACHERS MAY APPLY FROM ANYWHERE IN THE UNITED STATES.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Serve as the teacher of record and primary instructor for K-8 Grades.
• Deliver highly effective daily lessons based on student need, rooted in research-based instructional practices.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students.
• Utilize research-based best practices in daily planning and classroom instruction.
• Create a joyful, caring, and loving classroom environment for all students.
• Integrate culturally responsive teaching practices into daily lessons and interactions with students, parents, and colleagues.
• Implement school-wide culture expectations and norms, inside the virtual classroom and beyond.
• Communicate regularly with families regarding the academic and social-emotional growth of their child.
• Incorporate 21st century technology into daily classroom practice and team settings.
• Collaborate and communicate effectively, humbly, and respectfully with all colleagues.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree and highly qualified in appropriate content area
• Knowledge of state standards taught (Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills, or TEKS)
• Preferred two years' experience in education
• High quality written and verbal communication skills
• High proficiency in Microsoft Office products including Word and Outlook
• Ability to properly manage confidential information
• Ability to pass federal and state criminal background checks

*MUST HAVE OWN COMPUTER FOR VIDEO CONFERENCING (A TECHNOLOGY/SUPPLY STIPEND WILL BE PROVIDED EACH SEMESTER).
