Job Overview: AIMS Locum Tenens seeks a Patient Appointment Clerk to provide administrative support in scheduling and managing patient appointments for primary, specialty, and subspecialty care at the 72d Medical Group, Tinker Air Force Base. The Patient Appointment Clerk will handle scheduling requests, call patients for appointment confirmations or changes, and maintain appointment records, ensuring adherence to Medical Treatment Facility (MTF) protocols. This position is essential for the smooth flow of operations, requiring excellent customer service and organizational skills.
General Duties:
Clinical Privileges: Perform general administrative duties within the scope of MTF-granted clinical privileges.
Specific Duties:
Appointment Scheduling: Schedule, reschedule, or cancel appointments using the MHS GENESIS system following DHA Access to Care policies and MTF protocols.
Eligibility Verification: Verify patient eligibility via the Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS) and register beneficiaries as needed.
Patient Communication: Contact patients to provide appointment details or address changes via telephone or secure messaging.
Data Entry: Update patient demographic information and ensure accurate records to avoid scheduling errors.
Customer Service: Provide courteous and professional assistance, responding to patient inquiries and maintaining a high standard of telephone etiquette.
Compliance and Metrics: Achieve telephony performance metrics (e.g., answer rate and speed) and maintain a 99% accuracy rate in appointment scheduling.
Qualifications:
Degree: High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Skills: Typing proficiency (minimum 50 WPM), fluent in English with clear communication.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years in medical office scheduling.
Technical Proficiency: Familiar with office equipment and appointment software.
Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA accredited Or from Red Cross)
Skills and Abilities:
Proficiency in medical ethics, patient confidentiality, and customer service.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to interpret and apply MTF-specific booking protocols accurately.
