Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Paving and Civil Site Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of paving (asphalt & concrete), earthwork, stabilized subgrade, light structural, and underground utility estimating processes, with a proven track record of preparing accurate and competitive bids. This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with project managers, engineers, and clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for paving and civil site construction projects related to concrete, asphalt, earthwork, stabilization, stormwater, and underground utilities. Including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
- Analyze project plans, specifications, and other documents to develop accurate and competitive bids.
- Perform detailed digital takeoff from plans to ensure accuracy in quantity calculations.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment on project scope and requirements.
- Identify potential risks or advantages and develop cost-effective solutions.
- Review and analyze historical cost data to improve estimating accuracy.
- Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits to gather critical project information.
- Oversee and assign administrative work related to estimating and bidding tasks..
- Understand various bid packages from municipalities, State, Federal, General Contractors, and Construction Management projects.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, materials, and construction methods.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in paving and civil site construction estimating.
- Strong understanding of paving and civil site construction methods, materials, and specifications.
- Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Field supervision or design background is a plus.
