Payroll & Benefits Consultant Job Description
The Payroll and Benefits Consultant you will administer payroll and benefits for clients and serve as the key coordinator of assigned clients' payroll, tax, and benefits needs on multiple clients This position will play a role in the day-to-day Practice Area operations. Provides outstanding communication, strong
payroll, tax, and benefits knowledge, coordination, project management, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills to entrepreneurial clients.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate, process, and reconcile weekly, bi-weekly, semi-monthly, and monthly payroll for
multiple clients accurately and timely; ensure that payroll policies are in accordance with the
government regulations; research and resolve any client employee questions or concerns related
to paychecks, deductions or taxes.
Update payroll records for employee changes (i.e. new hires, terminations, garnishments, job titles and salary, insurance coverage, benefit deductions, etc.).
Ensure that all federal, state, and local taxes, social security contributions, voluntary employee deductions, PTO, and other mandatory deductions are withheld correctly and accurately.
Submit elective deferrals and other contributory deductions to appropriate benefit vendors (FSA,HSA, 401K, etc).
Design and run payroll report as needed, including reports for workers' compensation audits and Retirement plan testing.
Review quarterly and year-end payroll reports to ensure accurate distribution of W2 forms.
Coordinate with payroll provider to manage all (monthly, quarterly, and year-end) tax filings and timely remittances for several states and the federal government, including any local-related taxes.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local legal and reporting requirements; enforce adherence to requirements and advising client leads.
Stay abreast of any employment and payroll law changes in tax and deductions.
Input, maintain, audit, extract, and analyze confidential payroll and benefits information; responsible for data integrity within the payroll/HRIS systems.
Revise and maintain all internal payroll and benefits process documentation.

Knowledge and Skills
Strong background in payroll and benefits administration for companies up to 100 employees
Client-focused with a strong desire to identify and resolve client problems.
Comfortable with the creative chaos that comes with a growing business and the entrepreneurial
disposition.
Solid organizational and project management skills including; the ability to establish priorities,
navigate back and forth between multiple tasks/priorities and strong detailed execution

Must have a high level of integrity, a professional attitude, and the ability to work under pressure
to meet deadlines.

Qualifications
Associate degree in business or equivalent experience and education required.
5+ years of payroll and benefits administration work experience ideally at least 2+ years as office administrator, or payroll
administrator
Technical knowledge in using Microsoft Office products, various payroll systems (i.e.. Gusto, ADP, QuickBooks, Paylocity, Paycor) or other small business software
Strong knowledge of Federal and State Wage and labor Laws.
Strong knowledge of Payroll withholding/taxation requirements and reporting.
Strong knowledge for Employee Benefits Administration
Experience in multi-state environments and handling multiple payroll deadlines is required.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills, high level of accuracy, and attention to detail
Certified Payroll Professional (CPP), or equivalent certification desired.
