The Payroll Coordinator will support the accurate and timely payroll processing for all manufacturing organization employees. This role requires a detail-oriented professional comfortable handling manual processes, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulations, and maintaining accurate payroll records. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of payroll procedures, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Payroll Processing: Assist in the preparation and processing of weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly payrolls for hourly and salaried employees, including calculating hours, overtime, and deductions.
- Manual Calculations: Perform manual calculations for payroll adjustments, including retroactive pay, bonuses, and corrections as needed.
- Timekeeping System Management: Review and verify timekeeping records for accuracy. Ensure all employee hours and time-off requests are properly recorded and approved.
- Employee Records Maintenance: Maintain and update employee payroll records, including new hires, terminations, salary changes, and tax withholdings.
- Compliance & Reporting: Ensure payroll practices comply with federal, state, and local regulations. Prepare and submit required payroll reports, including tax filings and wage reports.
- Problem Resolution: Address and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
- Audit Support: Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary payroll documentation and reports.
- Confidentiality: Maintain the highest level of confidentiality regarding employee payroll and personal information.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline payroll processes and improve efficiency while maintaining accuracy.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
- Experience: 2+ years of experience in payroll processing, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge: Solid understanding of federal, state, and local payroll regulations and tax laws.
- Attention to Detail: Strong accuracy and attention to detail, especially when handling manual calculations and large volumes of data.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to address employee concerns and collaborate with team members.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify and resolve payroll discrepancies quickly and efficiently.
