    Bellevue, WA (in-office)

    Our client, a leading private real estate lender with a strong lending team and over $350 million in capital, is seeking a Payroll Specialist to join their team. The company specializes in lending to builders and developers and also has divisions focused on mortgage brokerage and development.

    This role is part of the accounting team and involves managing, implementing, maintaining and auditing payroll systems to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing as well as the ability to handle other accounting tasks as needed to support the team.

    Payroll Specialist Responsibilities:

    • Familiar with payroll processing systems and payroll transactions, including salaries, benefits, commissions, bonuses, garnishments, taxes, and deductions.
    • Maintains compliance with payroll laws and standards across federal, state, and local levels, including multi-state regulations.
    • Acts as the main point of contact with the payroll provider for management and issue resolution.
    • Manages fully-cycle accounting for assigned projects, handling accounts payable and receivable and maintaining project ledgers.
    • Prepares, reviews, and distributes various project-related reports.
    • Provides ad-hoc reporting to project teams, departments, and management as needed.
    • Monitors and interprets transaction flow within general ledger accounts.
    • Ready to assist with various accounting tasks, including daily cash reconciliations.

    Payroll Specialist Qualifications:

    • At least 3+ years of accounting experience, ideally in construction, real estate, or private equity sectors.
    • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business is preferred.
    • Prior experience in real estate, development, construction, or banking is highly beneficial.
    • Possesses a customer-focused approach, strong organizational skills, and keen attention to detail.
    • Skilled in clear, effective communication—both verbal and written—with project teams, suppliers, subcontractors, and clients.
    • Strong analytical mindset with a deep interest in understanding business drivers.

    Compensation: $85-95k/year
