    Job Summary: The Payroll Specialist is responsible for processing employee payroll accurately and on time, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations. This role involves maintaining payroll records, handling payroll inquiries, and assisting with payroll-related administrative tasks.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Payroll Processing: Process and verify employee time sheets, attendance records, and payroll data to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing. Calculate wages, deductions, and overtime as needed.

    Data Entry: Input payroll data into the payroll system, including new hire information, terminations, and changes in employee status or compensation. Ensure data accuracy and completeness.

    System Management: Oversee the payroll system and work with IT to resolve any system issues. Recommend and implement system upgrades or changes to improve payroll processes.

    Compliance: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations, including tax laws and labor laws. Stay updated on changes in payroll regulations and procedures.

    Reporting: Assist in generating payroll reports, including summaries, tax reports, and payroll audits. Prepare reports for management and other departments as needed.

    Employee Support: Address and resolve employee inquiries regarding payroll, including questions about paychecks, deductions, and benefits. Provide assistance with payroll-related issues.

    Reconciliation: Assist in reconciling payroll discrepancies and resolving any issues related to payroll processing or records.

    Process Improvement: Identify and recommend improvements to payroll processes and procedures to enhance accuracy and efficiency.

    Qualifications:

    Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is a plus.

    Experience: Previous experience in payroll processing or a similar administrative role preferred. Familiarity with payroll software and systems is beneficial.

    Knowledge: Basic understanding of payroll processes, wage and hour laws, and tax regulations. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.

    Skills: Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Good organizational and time management skills. Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

    Certifications: Certification as a Payroll Professional (CPP) or similar credential is a plus, but not required.
