Redeemer Counseling Services (RCS) offers over 450 individual, couples and family therapy sessions each week as well as a 9 month pastoral counseling training program, workshops, group counseling and more. RCS is seeking an experienced therapist, highly motivated to learn Redeemer Counseling’s unique G.I.F.T. framework for integration of theology in psychotherapy and apply the framework in practice.
The primary responsibility of this position is to provide counseling sessions for individuals, couples and families during peak hours. Peak hours are defined as weekdays between 5:30pm - 9:30pm or weekend hours. The qualified candidate must have a strong interest in integration of theology in psychotherapy, hold a NYS license as a counseling professional, and be an active member of a Christian church. Working knowledge/experience with biblical or gospel-centered counseling is preferred. This role requires strong case management skills including accurate documentation, correspondence with clients, and collaboration with other care providers.
This position requires a residency period of 4-9 months as a training period to understand and apply the Gospel-Centered Integrative Framework for Therapy (G.I.F.T.), Redeemer Counseling Services’ unique counseling framework.
The position must fulfill at least 10 clinical hours per week (with a minimum of those being 6 peak hours) providing counseling and attending individual and group supervision.
Responsibilities
Counseling:
A minimum of 10 client sessions/week (minimum of 6 peak hours) working 2- 3 days in the office depending on caseload. As the case load increases beyond 10 sessions, the peak hour requirement will be based on the client demand at RCS with the minimum of 50% of sessions during peak hours.
Timely documentation of sessions & termination summaries to keep a current list of active clients.
Consult and collaborate with other therapists for client care
Case management, including return calls, scheduling and canceling appointments; keeping accurate records of attendance and payment; and other case paperwork as required.
Meetings:
Attend weekly group supervision
Attend individual supervision as required by the clinical director/supervisor
Attend the annual All Staff Meeting
Other Expectations:
This role is expected to pursue training and additional supervision to fully understand and apply Gospel-Centered Integrative Framework for Therapy (GIFT)
Demonstrate learning and applying of the core values of RCS and care for staff as well as RCS as a ministry
Compliance to best practices of the profession, including:
Keep appropriate documentation including termination summaries in data management software.
Active collaboration with the Administrative Team in regard to scheduling, clarification of policies and procedures.
Adhere to the code of ethics
Return calls of clients within 24 hours
Schedule/cancel appointments in a timely manner
Collaborate with other care providers of clients
Qualifications:
Must have a New York State licensure in the profession such as LMFT, LMHC, LCSW or similar degree and license. Or Biblical Counselor with 5+ years of experience and open to integration.
Minimum two years of experience counseling couples is required.
Minimum two years of experience counseling families is preferred.
Theological alliance with Redeemer Presbyterian Church.
Strong interest in integration of theology and psychology
Member of a Christian church.
