  • Responsibilities

    Job Description

    • UM Shore Medical Center: 126 licensed beds, low volume, 3 Pediatric Units.
    • Work-life balance: 12-hour shifts, 6 shift bi-weekly
    • Average Daily Encounters: 5-12 ppd
    • Rounding, Consultations, Admissions and discharges for : well baby nursery, special care nursery, pediatric unit and attends deliveries as need
    • Takes initial patient histories and performs physical examinations.
    • Initiates, documents, and communicates the plan of care and follows up to ensure complete screening and preparation of patients.
    • Writes orders for medications, laboratory work, and diagnostic tests.
    • Interprets laboratory and test results.
    • Confers with attending physicians, residents, nursing staff, and/or other care providers to ensure optimum quality of patient care. Supervising physician on shift at all times

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Master’s Degree in a Nurse Practitioner Program and National Board Certification in specialty area required.
    • Possesses and maintains current Board Certification as Acute Care Pediatrics Nurse Practitioner
    • Required minimum of 2 years experience in a pediatric inpatient setting as an NP
    • Possesses and maintains current DEA or similar Narcotics and Controlled Substances Certification required.
    • Possesses and maintains, if applicable, appropriate clinical privileges at a minimum of one UMMS affiliated acute care facility.
    • Demonstrates meeting minimum CME requirements for licensure and board certification.
    • Demonstrates appropriate qualifications and experience to perform the duties required of this position.
