About North Star We provide clinic, in-home, and online pediatric speech-language therapy utilizing parent coaching. We are expanding to add an occupational therapist to our team of six speech-language therapists. North Star’s mission is to provide speech-language and occupational therapy services to children through a whole-child, whole-family approach in a safe and supportive community. North Star provides neurodiversity-affirming therapy; our goal is to improve the fields of developmental speech-language and occupational therapy, and the quality of therapy our clients receive. We are sick and tired of seeing children being harmed by behaviorist interventions that put the comfort of others ahead of the comfort of the individual receiving services. Our clientele is primarily early intervention (birth to 3 years old), but may also include children and young adults with diagnoses such as autism, cerebral palsy, and developmental coordination disorder. We have no age limits; we believe that people need support regardless of their age and have seen big issues with clients getting drastically reduced support after they turn 18. Many of our clients are minimally-speaking and utilize augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), so this position would also involve collaboration with the treating speech-language therapist to support motor, vision, and sensory skills to complement communication therapy. North Star is therapist-owned and run by a husband and wife (and 2 cat) team.
Qualifications
CA occupational therapy license.
Ability to drive to clients’ homes for in-home appointments in your own vehicle
Fully vaccinated and boosted against COVID-19 unless you have a verified medical reason that prevents you from getting vaccinated.
