Job Summary:
This is a PRN role for a registered professional providing occupational therapy to patients/clients of all age groups. Responsibilities include planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care plans to restore or maintain well-being, assessing occupational roles and performance, and delivering interventions for physical, psycho-social, and cognitive impairments. This role also involves coordinating care with other healthcare providers.
Job Qualifications:
- Education: Graduate of an accredited occupational therapist assistant program with an associate-level degree.
- Licensure: Active state license as an occupational therapist assistant. Current driver’s license.
- Work Environment: Provides care in patient homes, with potential exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and infectious diseases. Requires flexibility, local travel, and occasional work in adverse weather conditions.
- Physical/Mental Requirements: Heavy lifting, bending, pulling, pushing, and prolonged standing/walking required. Must be able to work under stressful conditions to meet deadlines and patient needs. Requires hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
Essential Functions:
- Provides occupational therapy to patients/clients under the supervision of a licensed occupational therapist.
- Assists with ROM, strength, coordination, adaptive equipment use, environmental modifications, functional mobility, and ADL safety.
- Provides services as ordered by a physician and outlined in the care plan.
- Implements infection control protocols to prevent contamination and disease transmission.
- Completes documentation in a timely manner.
- Accepts clinical assignments aligned with education and competency.
- Uses effective communication to educate patients/clients and caregivers.
- Ensures compliance with fiscal intermediaries and third-party payors.
- Demonstrates commitment to professional growth and competency.
- Meets mandatory continuing education requirements and participates in in-service training.
- Maintains therapy skills in accordance with the Therapy Practice Act and regulatory guidelines.
- Holds current CPR certification.
Work Details:
- Location: In person
- Pay: up to $100/ visit
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, on-call availability
- License/Certification: Occupational Therapy Assistant License (Preferred), COTA (Preferred)
- Travel: 25% (Preferred)
- Relocation: Required before starting work in San Antonio, TX
