    Job Summary

    We are seeking a Medical Biller to join our team! As a medical biller, you will be working closely with Patients to answer questions related to billing, process all forms needed for insurance billing purposes, and collect necessary documentation from pateints. You will also assist other Medical Billers with patient follow-up inquiries, communicate with physicians' offices and hospitals to obtain records, and accurately record patient information. The ideal candidate has excellent attention to detail, strong customer service skills, and is comfortable spending much of the day on the phone.

    General Summary/Responsibilities:

    Process Payments: Receive and post payments accurately using billing software systems. Ensure all transactions are recorded promptly and correctly.

    Billing and Claims: Generate and submit insurance claims electronically. Verify billing codes and patient information to ensure accuracy and compliance with insurance regulations.

    Monitor Accounts: Review and follow up on unpaid or denied claims to ensure timely resolution. Follow up on outstanding A/R for both patients and payors.

    Call Patients: Contact patients to collect outstanding balances and arrange payment plans as needed.

    Process Claims: Submit accurate and complete insurance claims electronically or by paper submission.

    Verify Insurance: Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility for services rendered.

    Maintain Records: Keep detailed records of billing and collection activities, including payments and adjustments.

    Resolve Issues: Address billing inquiries and resolve discrepancies or issues related to patient accounts.

    Financial Reporting: Prepare and maintain reports detailing accounts receivable status, collections, and billing activities. Provide regular updates to management on payment trends and outstanding issues.

    Compliance: Ensure compliance with billing regulations and guidelines, including HIPAA.

    Other duties as assigned.

    Education: High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED). Bachelor’s degree preferred.

    Experience: Minimum two years of medical billing experience in a medical office setting. Demonstration of an interest in leadership committed to advancing healthcare delivery and improving patient outcomes.

    Skills: Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with staff, patients, physicians, and other stakeholders effectively. Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with physicians, vendors, and other healthcare professionals. Proficiency in healthcare management software and electronic health records (EHR) systems is required. Experience with eClinicalWorks preferred. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to handle sensitive or confidential information with discretion. Effective time management skills to handle multiple responsibilities and tasks efficiently.The ability to adapt to changing healthcare regulations, industry trends, and operational needs.
