Position Overview:
The Recovery Coach role is designed to be a supplement to treatment services, case management and/or care coordination services. It is an integral part to the Recovery Oriented Systems of Care model of community-based services. The primary purpose is to help bridge the gap between professional treatment and sustainable recovery and to help individuals begin, maintain, and improve the quality of individual and family recovery. Although part of an AWRC clinical team, the Recovery Coach’s role is a non-clinical one. This position will not diagnosis, provide counseling or referral, or focus on clinical issues. The Recovery Coach will provide direct support to recovery solutions identified by the client.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one and group support to individuals in recovery from substance use disorders.
- Share personal experiences and recovery stories to inspire hope and resilience in clients.
- Assist clients in setting and achieving their recovery goals and objectives.
- Offer information and guidance on community resources, treatment options, and support groups.
- Facilitate skill-building and education sessions in areas such as coping skills, stress management, and relapse prevention.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to create comprehensive care plans tailored to client needs.
- Maintain accurate records of client progress and services provided, adhering to confidentiality and ethical standards.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance coaching techniques and knowledge of SUD trends and interventions.
Education & Experience:
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
· Lived experience in recovery for addictions, through personal experience or a family member with personal experience, is required.
· Service work associated to recovery, such as sponsoring, holding positions in home group, district, and state level as well as volunteer activities in the community is preferred. Service work that demonstrates quality recovery, is ideal.
· Basic Peer Mentor 6-hour introductory training and 15-hour advanced training will be required to be completed within 1 year of employment.
· Experience and ability to use multiple computer applications, including but not limited to, Microsoft Office Suite applications including Word, Excel and internet-based platforms is required.
