We are looking to hire a committed, dependable, and task-oriented Peer Recovery Specialist who will make thoughtful connections with our clients. Peer Recovery Specialist works together with program participants on their path to recovery and assists the client with plans to promote individual growth and healing. The Peer Recovery Specialist will function as a role model to clients; exhibiting competence in personal recovery, use of positive coping skills, serving as a client advocate and supporting the client in establishing and maintaining their personal recovery. The peer recovery specialist will perform a variety of tasks to assist peers in regaining independence and mastery of their own recovery. The work is performed under regular supervision.     QUALIFICATIONS

    Must have a valid Virginia driver's license, with no restrictions

    Must have reliable transportation as you may be expected to drive clients to and from their daily activities

    Must have a high school diploma

    Must have current work experience in community-based support services

    Must have experience in being able to effectively communicate with persons with a mental health diagnosis

    Must be able to provide hands on instruction and guidance on general housekeeping skills, and core functional living skills

    2 years or more of personal sustained recovery from substance use is preferred but not required.

    Certification as a Peer Recovery Specialist is preferred but not required.

    The ideal candidate has completed or is in the process of:

    Training Program Candidates should have completed the DBHDS 72-hour Peer Recovery Specialist training in Virginia.

    Experience Candidates must have a minimum of 500 hours of direct, supervised peer support experience.

    Certification Exam Candidates must pass the IC&RC PRS Exam.

    PEER RECOVERY SPECIALIST DUTIES

    Assist clients in establishing personal goals for recovery through one-on-one interaction and group sessions

    Help client create strength-based recovery plans

    Identifying supports and resources that will aid participant in recovery including personal support, networking support, and community-based support

    Assist participants in developing empowerment skills and combating stigma through self-advocacy

    Incorporate personal experiences regarding skills, strengths, supports and resources used in personal recovery

    Assist participants in relationship building and development of social skills

    Work collaboratively with treatment team to develop individual recovery, resiliency and wellness planning. Once eligible, full-time employees will have access to health insurance, dental insurance, life insurance, supplemental insurance, PTO, and our company's 401(K) retirement plan.
