Job title: Peer Recovery Support Specialist
Pay rate: $19.75 per hour
Length of assignment: ongoing
Hours/Shift: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm and some weekend work
Job description:
Responsible for provision of support services to adults with substance use disorders. Performs screenings, conducts recovery-oriented service planning, and individual goal implementation to include training/coaching in daily living skills, facilitating social/recreational activities, recovery education, and fostering client advocacy and responsibility. Conducts GPRA surveys.
Requirements:
Graduation from Peer-to-Peer Support Specialist Training (or working toward this certification) or WRAP Facilitator training. Must be eligible to become a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) in Virginia.
High School diploma or GED with some related experience (may be personal experience with a substance abuse/mental health service system). Bachelor’s degree in a human service or related fields a plus. Must have acceptable driving record. Must have lived experience with substance abuse or mental health disorders. If not obtained prior to hire, the peer counselor will receive Peer Certification Recovery Services (CPRS) training.
