Dr. Eugenia Prokopets is a board certified, periodontal microsurgeon looking for a stellar surgical assistant that will work along side of her. Job Overview:
As a Periodontal Surgical Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting our periodontal procedures and cosmetic treatments. You will work closely with our periodontist and clinical team to ensure the delivery of exceptional patient care. This position requires a blend of surgical expertise, customer service, cosmetic awareness and a commitment to maintaining a positive patient experience.
Responsibilities:
Surgical Assisting:
Assist periodontists during surgical procedures, including but not limited to extractions, dental implant placements, soft tissue grafting, osseous surgery, crown lengthening, biopsies, sinus lifts.
Prepare and sterilize surgical instruments and prepare dental operatories
Ensure patient comfort and safety during procedures
Assist with microsurgery and become proficient working through the microscope
Perform phlebotomy for L-PRF preparation
Cosmetic Procedures:
Assist doctor in botox and filler treatments
Ensure proper stock of cosmetic supplies and materials
Educate patients on post-treatment care for cosmetic procedures
Patient Care:
Greet and prepare patients for surgical and cosmetic procedures
Review medical history and obtain proper vitals
Assist in clinical photography
Maintain patient records and update treatment plans as necessary
Provide pre and post-operative instructions and follow-up care guidelines
Radiographic Imaging:
Capture and process digital radiographs as required for treatment planning
Ensure accuracy and clarity of imaging for diagnostic purposes
Capture CBCT images
Understand CBCT basic implant planning
Infection Control:
Adhere to strict infection control protocols and maintain a sterile environment
Monitor and manage the sterilization and maintenance of instruments
Maintain OSHA standards at all times
Patient Reception:
Greet patients warmly and ensure a welcoming environment at the front desk
Efficiently manage patient check-ins and check-outs, providing necessary forms and
information
Qualifications:
Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) or equivalent certification.
Previous experience in a surgical or periodontal setting is preferred
Proficient in dental radiology with Maryland radiology license
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
