Job Summary: Provides patient care within the prevailing state standards of practice and according to the policies of the facility. Helps maintain equipment, supplies, and cleanliness of facilities as a whole. May have additional responsibilities as designated by the Team Lead or Clinical Director, which include but are not limited to, serving on committees, participating in staff meetings, projects, and QAPI.
Job Title: Perioperative Nursing Assistant
1. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: The following description of the job responsibilities and performance expectations are intended to reflect the major responsibilities of the job, but is not intended to describe the minor duties or other responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time.
A. Provides direct patient care by assisting patients with dressing and undress, changing linens, getting in and out of bed, ambulation, etc. Assists with patient discharge by transporting patients to their vehicles.
B. Maintains and demonstrates current skills and knowledge in aseptic technique.
C. Collect and transports specimens, including urine, blood, and gastrointestinal, etc.
D. Obtains and documents patient’s vital signs, height and weight, and reports results and observations.
E. Answers and responds to patient call lights and requests.
F. Informs Team Lead of applicable day-to-day situations. Communicates appropriate information to other team members.
G. Performs center and patient support duties including running errands, picking up supplies, delivering specimens, unpacking and storing supplies, counting inventory, and assisting with data collection on various clinical logs.
H. Complies with Policies and Programs, adheres to safety guidelines, and ensures a safe work and patient care environment.
I. Knows and adheres to policies of the Center and demonstrates fiscal responsibility.
J. Follows the Center’s professional code of conduct and dress code policy.
K. Communicates appropriate information to other team members.
L. Follows standards, policies, procedures, goals, and objectives for perioperative nursing care according to accepted standards.
M. Assists with environmental hazard and infection control surveillance, and participates in emergency preparedness drills.
N. Observes proper body mechanics while performing work area duties and patient care, including transporting.
O. Assists with monitoring and maintaining adequate inventory of supplies in Pre/Post areas.
P. Assists with monitoring of equipment repairs and maintenance and maintains binder with documentation of repair requests and completion of jobs.
Q. Assists with quarterly inventory.
R. Attends mandatory in-services and meetings.
2. Maintains a safe environment for patients and personnel.
A. Ensures continued compliance with regulatory agencies, i.e. CMS, OSHA, CDC, TJC.
B. Implements safe practices and evaluation of the environment of care management including life safety, security, hazardous materials and waste management, emergency equipment and utilities.

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual shall be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. This position requires strong interpersonal skills to regularly interact professionally, promptly and courteously with patients, physicians, and their office staff in addition to other Center personnel. Education and/or Experience: High school graduate or equivalent.
