The Associate will be responsible for competently and diligently representing clients of the Firm and contributing to developing the strategy of a case.
The Associate works under the general direction of the Managing Attorney and has a broad degree of discretion with respect to control of cases assigned.
As it relates to supervision of paralegals and assistants on the legal team, the Associate can assign work and is responsible for ensuring the team meets deadlines and for reviewing and approving the work of the legal team.
Responsibilities:
- Manage full case handling responsibilities from inception through disposition
- Regularly consult with clients and third parties to effectively move cases forward to a successful conclusion
- Research and investigate cases
- Prepare cases for filing
- Review Legal Documents
- Analyze case-specific legal issues and documentation
- Prepare necessary memorandums and disposition records to ensure accurate documentation of the file and timely case closing
- Attend hearings and interviews
- Prepare and (or oversee) written discovery
- Take depositions
- Prepare briefs and motions
- Develop a strategic approach and provide leadership and direction to Paralegals and Legal Assistants
- Perform weekly case reviews for active cases and bi-monthly for cases that have been filed but are pending
- Build client cases, verifying that all client notes and data are captured in the Case Management System
- Meet with potential new clients for strategy sessions
- Move cases through the process in accordance with goals and established milestones
- Ensure all assigned matters are reviewed at least once each month and clients are updated on the status of their case
- Foster and maintain an excellent rapport with clients through consistent communication and thorough advisement
- Track time and record time worked on matters and administrative tasks
Required Qualifications
Must be a member in good standing with the State Bar Association of Texas.
