We are seeking a qualified personal injury legal assistant to support our attorneys and paralegals in meeting the needs of our clients. You will handle all forms of office communication, from fielding calls and emails to scheduling business trips and keeping our legal team informed of impending deadlines. You'll also be filing paperwork electronically in state and federal courts, as well as ordering medical and billing data. In this role, you'll conduct additional legal research at the request of attorneys and paralegals. Prior experience in a personal injury law firm is a plus. Responsibilities: • Use time sheets on a daily basis, with the help of accounting, to bill clients accurately • Create and proofread pleadings, motions, subpoenas, affidavits, contracts, and papers for case preparation • Submit documents electronically in both state and federal court, and request billing and medical records • Conduct legal research with the assistance of lawyers and paralegals and have a working knowledge of medical terminology • Make calls and respond to emails, contact opposing attorney offices, take dictation, and advise the team of deadlines Qualifications: • Comfortable working with all Microsoft Office products • Must be able to prioritize tasks with demanding deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment • Applicants must have excellent communication and organizational skills • Associate’s degree, or some college is preferred; high school diploma or equivalent is necessary • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a personal injury law firm or office environment as an administrative assistant or secretary Compensation: $20 - $23 hourly
• Assist Case Managers in all aspect of pre-litigation work, including but not limited to: lien negotiations, settlement distributions, setting up appointments, etc.
