Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and responsible Wonderful Scholar for a full-time summer internship. In this position, you will gain hands on professional experience and learn how the department runs.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Shadowing PCA in field duties that include scouting for the following: insects, weeds, pathogens, and vertebrates that may cause damage to almonds, pistachios, and pomegranates.
• Responsible for checking traps and studying the behaviors and attributes of insects detrimental to almonds, pistachios, and pomegranate.
• Responsible for assisting with other departments on projects.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

• Must be a Wonderful Scholar in Sophomore, Junior, or senior year of college.
• Agriculture related major preferred.
• Must be 18 years of age.

SPECIFIC KNOWELDGE, AND SKILLS:

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Self-directed and able to work autonomously.
• Energetic and able to tackle new projects and ideas.
• Research and analysis skills.
• Ability to write and present reports as requested.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred, but not required.

LICENCES:

• CA Valid Driver’s License.

- Pay rate: $18.50/hr.
