    Job Summary

    We are searching for an experienced Pet Groomer/Assistant Manager to join the team at our successful grooming business. As a Pet Groomer/Assistant Manager, you will bathe and clip dogs according to breed-specific standards and owner preferences. You will also trim nails, clean ears, detangle hair and generally ensure that pets look and feel their best. You will also assist the Manager in supervising staff and dealing with quality control issues at the salon. If you are reliable, compassionate, and have a love for pets, we want to hear from you!

    Responsibilities

    Brush and detangle or remove matted fur

    Bathe dogs and dry coat

    Execute a variety of clipping techniques and style requests

    Examine for parasites or other skin conditions

    Trim nails

    Ensure the safety of dogs at all times

    Adhere to strict sanitary and cleaning procedures

    Communicate effectively and compassionately with pet owners

    The Assistant Manager will assist in hiring, training, and supervising all dog groomers and salon employees, ensuring they complete all training requirements and maintain safety standards provided by Wash My Dog.

    Onboard all new salon associates and groomers, ensuring their completion of all training requirements and annual safety certifications, evaluating the quality of grooms, and providing ongoing learning opportunities.

    Quality Control Assessment. The Assistant Manager’s duties will be to perform hands-on assessments on all pets to recommend services, build trust with the pet parents, and make sure they are up to par with the standards of Wash My Dog before they leave.

    Perform dog grooming services to breed standards and to clients’ personal preferences and hold your groomers to those same standards.

    Ensure the safety and well-being of every pet and associate in the salon, taking immediate action whenever necessary.

    Create, maintain, and post monthly staff schedules, making sure that every shift has ample coverage.

    Responsible for working with Managers/Owners on holding all employees accountable for their actions by implementing corrective action plans and quarterly evaluations.

    Responsible for managing all employees’ time sheets.

    Submitting payroll to the Manager in a timely manner for approval.

    Keep a daily inventory of all products and report the needs to the manager to provide efficient time to purchase or order supplies.

    Responsible for following Wash My Dog protocol for incidents and emergencies.

    Responsible for closing, which entails, counting the money in the register, documentation of credit tips to be paid during the next pay period, making sure all things are shut down, and the salon is clean and secured.

    Help manage all external services (towel service, maintenance, internet, contractors, etc.)

    Assist Manager/Owners in coordinating hours and training for volunteers and interns.

    Responsible for making sure that we meet our daily grooming, daycare, and puppy play time quotas.

    All other duties as assigned.

    The Assistant Salon Manager position will work closely with the Manager/Owners to ensure that they upkeep the culture and the integrity of Wash My Dog Values (Safe Space, Teamwork, Communication, Gratitude, and Giving).

    Qualifications

    At least 2 years of previous experience as a dog grooming technician or a similar role

    At least 2 years in a management position.

    Comfortable working with anxious animals

    Good organizational and leadership skills

    Ability to stand for long periods and lift large dogs over 60 pounds

    Willingness to learn new techniques and participate in continuing education

    Able to communicate effectively with coworkers and dog owners

    Strong attention to detail

    Spanish speaking is a must!
