Overview:
The Pharmacy Technician **** is a **** dynamic role supporting a fast paced division within the federal government. The pharmacy technician works with the pharmacist to prepare and maintain multiple types of pharmacy caches and kits used during emergency medical response missions. This nontraditional pharmacy technician position works in a warehouse environment and does not directly dispense medications to the public. The Pharmacy Technician will have operational responsibility for all ongoing inventories of drug products and pharmaceutical supplies to include their procurement
Responsibilities:
- Duties consist of pharmaceutical and medical supply order initiations, receiving shipments of goods, assuring compliance with pharmaceutical storage requirements, inventory control through perpetual analysis, funds control, liaison with company and other government representatives, and resource for financial status reports and presentations.
- Maintains a clean and aseptic work area and ensures strict security measures for the Pharmacy environment.
- Maintains accurate records of prescriptions dispensed; orders, receiving and storage of pharmaceutical supplies; consults with pharmacist or physicians and staff to clarify medication orders; assumes legal custody of controlled substances; and assures that medications are managed and dispensed in compliance with the law and that inventory control and record keeping requirements are met.
- Processes outdated, unusable, and excess inventory for return to respective entities for replacement of usable formulary items or credit.
- Assists in reviewing requests for purchases of accountable assets to identify availability of requested resources from various federal outlets
- Ensure that all nonexpendable accountable property being received or issued is distinctively marked
- Assists in the issuing of custody receipts or other similar documents to assign responsibility for nonexpendable equipment and sensitive supplies issued to responsible party
- Assists in evaluating culpability when accountable property has been reported lost, damaged, misused, or stolen and assisting when further investigation is required
- Conducts complete inventory of all property located at the facility, all property issued to employees and removed from the facility
- Prepares and circulates inventory lists to include excess property and turn over the inventory lists to the APO at the government facility.
- Assists the government in the collection and analysis of equipment maintenance, repair, and failure data. Assist the government in managing work concerned with receiving, handling, storing, maintaining, issuing, or physically controlling items within the Agency's storage and distribution system and other logistic services in direct support of disaster operations
- Drives Logistics vehicles to move inventory
- Directly involved in the maintenance of multiple types of pharmacy caches and kits to support emergency medical response missions
- Conduct inventories of medications contained the caches and kits
- Assists in preparing orders for pharmaceuticals and supplies
- Prepare reports as needed
Required Education:
- High school diploma/GED plus one-year full time experience in a hospital, long term care, mail order or retail pharmacy; or one-year full time experience working at a pharmaceutical distributor
Required Experience:
- License Requirement: The contractor/Pharmacy Technician must hold an unrestricted and current (valid) National or State Pharmacy Technician license.
- Must have a working knowledge of pharmaceuticals, and hold a valid certification, either with the state or nationally.
- Must maintain a valid state driver's license without restriction to operate a standard passenger or cargo vehicles.
- Must be able to lift 50lbs and duties may require lifting and carrying supplies.
- Must successfully complete a personal background check to obtain HHS identification/credentials
