    Job Description

    This project is in the proposal stage, we’re awaiting to be awarded the contract.

    The objective of this contract is to obtain all infrastructure, including temporary housing structures, physical plant, staffing, resources, services, and supplies necessary to house aliens in the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in a safe and secure environment.

    International SOS is looking for an experienced Pharmacy Technician to assist the pharmacist in the preparation, dispensing, and management of medications for detainees, ensuring compliance with regulations and safety protocols. This role includes maintaining inventory, processing medication orders, and providing support in patient education to promote proper medication use within the facility.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Respond to requests and prioritizing if inquiry should be referred to a pharmacist.
    • Fill and dispense prescriptions as delegated by Pharmacists.
    • Assists the pharmacist in patient care activities.
    • Performs the technical processes entailed in processing and dispensing medications to patients.
    • Manage the regular program of supply procurement and supply management.
    • Assessment of stock, preparing purchase orders and requests, placing computer generated or phone orders, receiving drugs into the pharmacy, and taking periodic inventories of stock.
    • Performs daily maintenance functions on automated equipment.
    • Runs daily operational and pharmacy reports.
    • Performs a variety of quality assurance/quality improvement activities.
    • Function as contact person for on-line point system to include training others or responding to questions.
    • Monitors the patient system, assures the accuracy of patient data and appropriateness of billing information so that correct billing documents are produced.

    Basic Requirements/Certifications:

    • Must demonstrate at least six (6) months of general experience and six (6) months of specialized experience equivalent.
    • Specialized experience is based upon the Individual Occupational Requirements for Pharmacy Technicians:
    • General experience is based upon general schedule qualifications standards: (l) Any type of work that demonstrates the applicant's ability to perform the work of the position, or (2) experience that provided a familiarity with the subject matter or processes of the broad subject area of the occupation. Examples of work at this level include clerical work in medical settings such as verifying accuracy of patient information, enter codes or other information into computers or enter information into databases or software programs or enter patient or treatment data into computers and interacting with customers in person to provide information of service.
    • OR successfully completed post high school education.
    • OR combination of equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • In addition to the minimum requirements, the following certification is determined to be essential to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.
      • Possess a current and active certification through Pharmacy Technician Certification Board or National Health career Association or similar certification and
      • Active Pharmacy Technician License or an active state Certified Pharmacy Technician License and
      • Possess a current and active Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) Advanced Certification
    • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS).
    • Trained in Basic First Aid.
    • Employees shall have at least one year of general experience that demonstrates the following:
      • The ability to greet and deal tactfully with the public.
      • Capability of understanding and applying written and verbal orders, rules, and regulations. All personnel shall be literate and be able to interpret printed rules and regulations, detailed written orders, training instructions and materials, and must be able to compose reports.
      • Good judgment, courage, alertness, an even temperament, and render satisfactory performance through knowledge of his/her position responsibilities.
      • Ability to maintain poise and self-control during situations that involve mental stress, such as fires, explosions, civil disturbances, and building evacuations.

    Education Required:

    • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.

    Physical Requirements:

    • This position is considered hazardous duty in a detention setting.
    • Required to walk unaided at a normal pace for up to 5 minutes and maintain balance.
    • Required to jog/fast walk up to ¼ mile.
    • Requires physical exertion such as lifting objects greater than 30 pounds.
    • Required to perform CPR/emergency care standing or kneeling.
    • Must have the ability to assist sick, injured, or aging detainees or staff exiting the building (may require lifting, dragging, wheeling, or carrying someone who weighs significantly more than self).
    • Must be able to see, hear and smell with aids if necessary.
    • Must be able to lift, push, or carry 30 pounds.
    • Must perform the duties of my job in a stressful and often austere environment without physical limitations.
    • Sitting and/or standing for extended periods of time.
    • Average manual dexterity for computer operation.
    • Phone or computer use for extended periods of time.

    Other Special Qualifications:

    • Minimum of 21 years of age.
    • Must maintain current/physical residency in the continental U.S.
    • Pass a medical examination conducted by a licensed physician within 30 days prior to initial assignment.
    • Be a U.S. citizen or a person lawfully admitted into the U.S. for permanent residence.
    • Have resided in the U.S. for the last five years (unless abroad on official U.S. government duty).
    • Successfully engage in and complete a thorough Background Investigation.
    • Poses or have ability to obtain required security clearances.
    • Proficiency in Spanish is preferred.

    Pay range is based on several factors and may vary in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Final salary and offer will be determined by the applicant’s background, experience, skills, internal equity, and alignment with geographical market data.
