    Position: Pharmacy Technician

    Location: Hinsdale, IL 60521

    Reports to: Manager

    Type: Full-time – 35 hours per week [Mon- Fri – 7.30 am CST onwards]

     

    Job Summary:

    We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Pharmacy Technician to join our team. The successful

    candidate will play a key role in maintaining our pharmacy's operations, including medication

    management, inventory tracking, coordination with billing and research teams, and ensuring compliance

    with clinical trial protocols. The ideal candidate will possess strong attention to detail, excellent

    communication skills, and a commitment to providing safe and efficient pharmacy services.

     

    Key Responsibilities:

     

    1\. Pharmacy Maintenance & Cleanliness:

    o Maintain cleanliness and sanitize the pharmacy area daily to ensure a safe and

    organized environment.

     

    2\. Billing Coordination:

    o Work with our Billing Company to track and update medication approvals.

    o Coordinate with Billing Company to monitor upcoming treatments and refills for patients

    (PDS).

     

    3\. Inventory Management:

    o Check and restock medication inventory daily as treatment approvals come in.

    o Create a weekly list of medications required for all locations and submit to the Physician

    for ordering.

    o Properly assign inventory medications in IMS cabinet (BB/PDS).

    o Receive and store medication shipments, ensuring accurate inventory updates.

     

    4\. Medication Labeling & Documentation:

    o Print QSI labels and file associated cards.

    o Obtain audit reports and collect necessary signatures from the Physician.

    o Label and save vials/syringes as per clinical trial requirements.

    o Ensure proper documentation and filing of all paperwork related to medications.

    o Upload relevant documents and records to the Study Binder in Veeva.

     

    5\. Clinical Trial Support:

    o Work alongside the research team to ensure timely compliance with protocols and

    consents.

    o Compound clinical trial medications per protocol and create trial-specific labels.

    o Complete accountability logs, IRT portal visit confirmation, and maintain study-specific

    documentation.

     

    6\. Medical Equipment and Certification:

    o Work with vendors to certify the pharmacy hood and calibrate medical equipment as

    needed.

    o Ensure the Pharmacy Technician certification is kept up to date and in compliance with

    industry standards.

     

    7\. Collaboration with Medical Staff:

    o Collaborate with nurses to ensure all pharmacy supplies are re-stocked and medical

    supplies used in the pharmacy are ordered weekly.

    o Create and maintain a tracker for all past orders.

    o Work with all office locations to ensure proper shipment and receipt of medications.

    o Coordinate with couriers to ensure timely pick-ups of medications.

     

    8\. Compounding & Infusion Support:

    o Compound medications for infusion at Hinsdale and other satellite offices as required,

    ensuring all protocols are followed.

    o Package medications for shipment and ensure timely delivery to treatment locations.

     

    9\. Temperature Monitoring & Reporting:

    o Monitor medication temperatures and complete Temperature Excursion Reports when

    necessary to ensure medication integrity.

     

    10\. Clinical Trial Visits:

    o Attend the pharmacy portions of Site Initiation Visits (SIVs) and Pre-Site Selection Visits

    (PSVs) for clinical trials to ensure compliance with trial requirements.

     

    Qualifications:

    • High school diploma or equivalent required; Pharmacy Technician Certification required.

    • Proven experience as a Pharmacy Technician in an oncology setting.

    • Strong knowledge of pharmacy procedures, medication management, and clinical trial protocols.

    • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.

    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

    • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with medical and research

    teams.

    • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
