    Job Description

    This position is still at the proposal stage and is awaiting award.

    This position will support the US Department of Veterans Affairs Critical Staffing Program. The person in this position will represent International SOS and provide services outlined below:

    International SOS is looking for an individual who is an experienced phlebotomist to safely and efficiently collect blood samples from patients for diagnostic testing, transfusions, or research purposes, while ensuring patient comfort and adherence to safety protocols. This role is crucial in supporting healthcare providers by obtaining accurate laboratory results essential for effective patient care.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Perform patient phlebotomy to include inpatient ward rounds, inpatient and outpatient, Emergency Department (ED), STAT, as soon as possible (ASAP), and timed draws.
    • Perform sample processing and send out preparation.
    • Positively identifies patients prior to sample collection and samples prior to testing or aliquoting.
    • Safeguards electronic and paper patient information.
    • Independently tests, evaluates, documents, and reports patient testing and Quality Control (QC); identifies, documents, and resolves any collection, processing, testing or reporting issues.

    • Assures patient-centered care and provides service in a manner that is professional and will avoid complaints from all stakeholders and customers.

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    Basic Requirements/Certifications:

    • Must possess three years of recent phlebotomy experience
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

    Education Required:

    • High school diploma or equivalent.

    Physical Requirements:

    • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
    • Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time.
    • May require bending, stooping and lifting up to 15 lbs.

    Other Special Qualifications:

    • Must be able to read, write, and speak English to effectively communicate.
    • US Citizen or Permanent Resident Card is required.
    • Pass/possess VA Public Trust Clearance.

    Pay range is based on several factors and may vary in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Final salary and offer will be determined by the applicant’s background, experience, skills, internal equity, and alignment with geographical market data.
