    Job Overview:

    We are seeking a Phlebotomist to join the healthcare team. The Phlebotomist will be responsible for performing various blood and urine collection procedures in accordance with established medical guidelines and protocols. In addition to specimen collection, this role involves maintaining lab equipment, adhering to infection control guidelines, and ensuring that all processes follow standard operating procedures for quality assurance. The Phlebotomist will also be responsible for accurate documentation, specimen accessioning, and collaborating with lab management to ensure efficient specimen processing.

    Key responsibilities include maintaining a clean work environment, performing timely and accurate testing, adhering to safety protocols, and contributing to a high-functioning lab team. The ideal candidate must be committed to providing quality care and ensuring patient safety at all times. Perform other duties as assigned.

    Experience Requirements:

    • A minimum of 2 years of experience as a Phlebotomist
    • Proven experience performing phlebotomy duties in a clinical or medical center setting, consistent with those required of phlebotomists with similar experience and in comparable assignments. This includes proficiency in venipuncture, finger sticks, and other blood collection techniques
    • Experience in providing comprehensive phlebotomy services within the available personnel and equipment capabilities
    • Demonstrated ability to ensure the quality and timeliness of record preparation and reports documenting care and procedures
    • Experience adhering to administrative guidelines such as infection control protocols and laboratory safety standards. Proven track record of performing quality checks and preventive maintenance on lab equipment
    • Ability to perform patient in-processing prior to specimen collection, including reviewing and verifying accompanying patient paperwork
    • Excellent interpersonal skills to provide patients with guidance and assistance.
    • Experience in performing venipuncture, finger stick procedures, and any waived tests identified by CLIA 88 regulations
    • Skilled in blood collection using the Vacutainer blood collection system, syringe with needle, or butterfly needle
    • Experience in accurately identifying patients and ensuring the proper specimen is collected according to test requirements
    • Experience in collecting and processing urine samples for both routine and timed collections
    • Proven ability to accurately accession specimens by entering order numbers, verifying that correct tests were performed, documenting the time of specimen collection, and affixing labels in accordance with standard operating procedures. Must also be capable of recording initials and times of collection on the accession labels
    • Experience delivering collected blood and urine samples to appropriate departments in a timely manner. Must be skilled at managing the tube station and ensuring proper handling of specimens for further testing
    • Ability to maintain a clean and organized work environment in the phlebotomy and accessioning areas Must be proactive in rotating supplies and disposing of expired materials. Experience performing regular inventory checks and restocking supplies such as vacutainer tubes, needles, and biohazard containers
    • Experience ensuring specimens are processed and packaged correctly for transport, in accordance with specific receiving facility instructions. This may include refrigeration, freezing, room temperature handling centrifugation, and manifest preparation
    • Basic proficiency in computer usage is mandatory. Ability to use various menu options and lab software for documentation and operational tasks

    Physical Requirements:

    • Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs safely
    • Ability to work in a standing position for extended periods of time during the collection process
    • Must be able to handle and manage specimens with care, adhering to safety standards

    Education Requirements:

    • High School Diploma or equivalent.
    • Must have certification as a Phlebotomist from an accredited agency or a state-recognized certification
