N EEDED: Phlebotomy Technician
LOCATION: 2600 Highway 301 South, Jesup, Georgia 31599
HOURS: Monday through Friday (except Federal holidays). 6 hours per day between 6:30a.m. to 1:00 p.m. These hours may be adjusted to meet the needs of the institution. Shall not normally exceed an estimated 39 hours per week
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Shall have valid certification to practice in the state of Georgia as a Medical Assistant, Laboratory Assistant, Emergency Medical Technician or Phlebotomist.
- Must be Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certified, in accordance with the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Must provide proof of experience with specimen collection, packaging, and shipment to referral laboratories with knowledge of maintaining appropriate records and three (3) letters of reference.
DUTIES:
- Assist the Physician, Physician Assistant, and/or Nurse with patient flow in a clinic setting by measuring the patient's vital signs and weight and scanning laboratory results in the Bureau Electronic Medical Record (BEMR).
- Organize, schedule, and perform laboratory studies, specimen collection and process within the Health Service Unit, to include A&O in-processing, DNA per procedure, vaccine programs and PPD updates.
- Prepare and ensure specimens are packed and transported according to the contract or BOP Reference Lab and document per Health Services Unit Laboratory Procedures.
- Ensure that lab requests are completed properly, and all reports are returned from the contract lab, provider notified, log results in as received, follow up appropriately, and file results in lab and medical record.
- Assist the Health Service Administrator (HSA) or his/her designee in the coordination of BOP and Contract Reference Lab contact, CLIA re-certification, maintenance of equipment and notification of needed supplies.
- Assist the HSA and Clinical Director with writing and implementing policies that deal with the laboratory program
