    Job Description

    The Central Command Public Affairs Directorate (CCPA) serves as the primary advisor to the Commander on communication strategies, both internal and external. It plays a key role in supporting CENTCOM’s mission by ensuring that American and regional audiences are informed about operations focused on defeating adversaries, promoting regional stability, and safeguarding U.S. interests. Through clear, effective communication, CCPA helps build public trust and transparency while advancing CENTCOM’s strategic objectives in its area of responsibility.

    The Red Gate Group is seeking a skilled Photojournalist to support CENTCOM in Tampa, FL. You will play a key role in documenting CENTCOM's narrative through photography and videography. They capture command-related events, craft feature stories and cutlines in AP Style and provide content for CENTCOM’s website and social media. Collaborating with the Social Media and Website Content Manager, as well as Regional Media Specialists, the Photojournalist ensures alignment with communication strategies. Traveling with the CENTCOM Commander, they create and share content for diverse audiences, contribute to historical records, and enhance visual storytelling. This role also focuses on planning coverage for exercises and travels while continuously developing professional skills.

    Additionally, the Photojournalist shall:

    • Capture high-quality content of CENTCOM-related events, exercises, and activities, documenting key moments and personnel.
    • Write engaging feature stories and detailed captions in AP Style, providing context for the photos and events.
    • Publish content on CENTCOM's English-language digital media platforms, keeping them updated for the public and command stakeholders.
    • Travel with the CENTCOM Commander to document official trips, including the commander’s engagements, meetings, and interactions.
    • Maintain a repository of historical photos, videos, and stories for CENTCOM’s archives.
    • Collaborate with the Social Media and Website Content Manager to align content strategy and messaging goals.
    • Work with Regional Media Specialists to tailor content for regional audiences.
    • Operate DVIDS equipment and ensure photos are filed and released in accordance with DoD regulations.
    • Support 24/7 shift surge requirements during crises or unforeseen events as directed by the Director, CCPA.

    Required Skills/Qualifications

    • Knowledge of the DVIDS satellite live-broadcasting system required.
    • Ability to produce and publish digital imagery; audio files; as well as written stories, press releases, and news articles in Associated Press Style; all of which may be periodically needed under compressed timelines.
    • Working knowledge of photo and video editing with Adobe Creative Suite particularly within Photoshop and Premiere or other comparable software representing current industry standards.
    • Knowledge of the U.S. military structure, culture, and language, as well as the unique specific limitations under which U.S. military websites and social media platforms are constrained.
    • Experience with Associated Press (AP) Style, Microsoft Office Suite and SharePoint.
    • Ability to travel on potentially short notice for up to several weeks at a time and be able to function in potentially austere and politically unstable or unsecure environments.
    • Educational background in web design/social media, computer science, programming, communications, public affairs, and/or journal ism.
    • Must be able to attain an official US Government Passport as well as travel visas for CENTCOM AOR countries.
    • Excellent communication (both written and verbal), briefing, public affairs, and critical thinking skills, as well as problem diagnosis and creative technical problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to effectively collaborate as a team.
    • Previous U.S. military experience a plus.
    • Active Secret Clearance
